The Anchor card
Fill this in before you build anything
Seven fields. Finish all of them before you open a tool. If a field is blank because you do not know the answer, that is the finding, and it is worth more than the card.
How might we...
Frame the need as a question, from the point of view of the person who has the problem.
Skill sharpened
Which of your professional skills does this extend? Name something concrete you already do and cannot do at the speed or scale you need.
Observed workaround
How is this being solved now? Sticky notes, a spreadsheet, doing it at the weekend. Why is that inadequate?
Whose evidence
Who have you heard from besides yourself? Learners, families, colleagues, whoever the tool touches. If you are the only voice, the evidence base is too narrow.
Evidence of demand
What tells you somebody actually wants this solved, rather than that it would be neat to build?
Time and load reclaimed
What does this free up, and what will you spend that on instead?
Capability after removal
If the tool disappeared in a year, would you be more capable than before you built it, or less? Say which, and why.
